Fabienne's Illinois Workshop

As you know from the previous post here, Fabienne Rey is coming to Illinois to teach in conjunction with the exhibit From the Inside Out that Elizabeth Adams-Marks and Pat Vivod are curating. Here is a brief description of the workshop and contact information to get the ball rolling.

From the Inside Out - Eco-Prints and Memory Cloth 1
with Fabienne Rey

September 19, 20, 21, 2014 – 10 am to 5 pm each day

During this three-day intensive eco-print/dye workshop with Fabienne Rey of the Netherlands, participants will be introduced to ecological, economical and sustainable methods of dyeing and printing organic fabrics by engaging a variety of plant materials. Held in a private 2.5 acre wooded garden in southwest Illinois just 30 minutes east of St. Louis, MO, the workshop is an opportunity for novice and experienced fiber artists to create a collection of fabric samples while learning about hot and cold bundling; natural-dye and eco-dye methods; and the variables of time, water, cauldrons, non-toxic metals, mordants, local plants and natural fabrics.

Participants will be treated to a simple, but delicious lunch each day in the garden, but will provide their own lodging and transportation to restaurants, art exhibitions, museums, shopping, theaters, and other attractions along the Mississippi River in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Fabienne will be giving an artist talk on September 18, 7 pm, at the Jacoby Arts Center ADW Gallery, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the day before the workshop begins. We hope participants will plan to attend.
