The following was our original blurb about the show and all is still true except for the location…Jacoby Arts Center unfortunately is reorganizing at this time and informed us they could no longer host our show.

When the Jacoby Arts Center invited us to do a fiber show together Elizabeth and I jumped at the chance and while in mid-air realized it is a huge gallery and we might possibly need some help in filling the space! A bold idea took hold that involved looking far beyond our Southern Illinois / St. Louis, Missouri region. We both have many friends in common through social media and extended invitations to artists that exemplify our theme. We are thrilled that all our invitees accepted our invitation and with the affirmations we are launching the first ever international show at the Jacoby!

Our far flung friends Fabienne Rey, Irit Dulman, and Rio Wrenn are from the Netherlands, Israel, and Oregon, USA, respectively. Elizabeth and I live in rural Madison County in Southern Illinois.

All of us work with natural materials and dyes. In the sidebar you'll find the inside scoop, information on the theme of the exhibit. Be sure to scroll down to access all the tidbits including some at the very bottom. I've given each artist a page that you can access from the tabs at the top under the header or from photos in the sidebar and at the bottom. I've included links to websites, some photos of our past work and statements (sometimes the artists' own words, sometimes mine) so that you can begin to understand what we do and a little of how we do it. As new information comes in I'll update the blog.

Consider yourself invited to the show!
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Lovely to see this and hear about it now! A year away but yes, you will have so much to create, curate and communicate about. What a great idea and gathering of "natural mark makers"!!

    1. I certainly hope you get to attend too...if not the opening then sometime during the run of the show. We live close by and can meet visitors at the gallery if we have a little advance notice.

  3. Hi,
I have come to your blog via India Flint's blog ... and although I do not eco-dye, I am fascinated by it.
I have visited each of the artists' pages and will watch for further updates and pics of your exhibition.
I, along with my friend Elizabeth, have been curating a fibre art show here in Ontario, Canada, for the last decade + (Threadworks~a tri-annual, juried exhibition) ... the show first started in 1987 ... so I feel your excitement and anxiety. Wishing you good luck !
