From
the Inside Out:
Dyeing
& Printing with Iron and Tannin
with
Rio Wrenn
August
23 & 24, 2014
10 am to 5 pm
The workshop will be held in the textile lab at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Department of Art & Design.
This intensive workshop will explore techniques developed by Rio Wrenn and inspired by the ancient craft of Kalamkari from India. By using natural fibers such as silk and basic elements such as iron and various tannins we will explore the magic of printing and dyeing. This is a natural and ecological method that is quick in its results and has low impact on our environment.
Rio's class will be held in the newly renovated textile lab at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the art building adjacent to Art and Design West Gallery where the FTIO exhibit will be on display.
No experience is necessary to participate in this workshop except knowledge of basic hand sewing.
Registration for the workshop will be limited to 15 participants on a first-come-first-serve basis. To get on our list to receive registration form, detailed information, pricing and materials list required for workshop, along with links for lodging and local attractions, please email your full name, mailing address, and request to Patricia Vivod at
